TIME TO CALL INDIAN BLUFF
In the present age of the Information, propaganda is the key strategy to achieving the objectives of the psychological warfare. In fact, many battles are fought and won along the sidelines, long before the actual declaration of war. Media plays a key-role in this regard. Be it the Hearst-and-Pulitzer led media war ahead of the Spanish-American war, the Nazi propaganda machine or the Cold War in general, media shaped the views of the public. It helped garner public support for the conduct of the war by rallying their emotions around the conflict. Last year, an independent German author Elias Davidsson wrote a well-researched book on the 2008 Mumbai Attacks. The event is often dubbed as the Indian 9/11, less because of the scale of atrocities and more because of the conspiracies it had in its genesis.
